Introduction
Some notes you should be aware of while reading this page:
- The term 'cb' (meaning Chastity Belt) is used to refer to any sort of chastity device, whether belt based or otherwise
- The terms 'he' and 'guy' are used, but everything would apply the same to female wearers or keyholders
- If you're playing with some scheme that involves posting your chastity device keys or making them inaccessable in some other way, always have a safety backup key in case the your great plan fails for some unexpected reason

A Chastity Key Ring
This requires a bunch of guys who are each into long-term chastity and want some randomness and external control, and one Controller person who is not a 'Master' but just a coordinator for the proceedings.
One requirement is that all of the guys trust each other (which is perhaps what makes it not very realistic).
The process is:
1.Each guy needs a key to their device, plus a backup key which they're responsible for securing (perhaps sending to the Controller?) 2.All guys sends the Controller an e-mail containing a postal address that they can pick post up from 3.The Controller 'randomly' shuffles the addresses 4.The Controller sends a postal address to each guy, making sure no guy is sent his own address 5.Each guy posts their key to the address they're given 6.One week later, the Controller 'randomly' shuffles the addresses again 7.The Controller sends another postal address to each guy 8.Each guy posts the key they were given before to the new address they've been given, without any markings indicating who's sending the key 9.Each guy receives a key 10.Each guy tries out the key in the lock of their chastity device - if the key fits, they are free for the week! 11.If they key doesn't fit, they remain locked up 12.One week later, the Controller sends addresses and guys swap keys again 13.This carries on for ever, and hopefully every now and then guys get releases That's the basic system. Other features are:
1.Guys don't know how many other guys are playing, so don't know how long it will take before their own key comes around 2.The Controller could shuffle at random, but he should still keep track of whose key is where 3.If someone wants to leave, the Controller can just arrange for that guy to get his key next time, and no-one else will know 4.If someone wants to join, the Controller can just tell who that guy should send his key to 5.All guys should join a yahoo discussion group, so they can't see how many people are on the group (some will naturally be silent) but those playing can chat about it Again, the impractical part is that every guy needs to trust every other guy, even though most guys won't know what other guys are playing. I suspect in practice guys wouldn't want their (home?) postal addresses distributed

An Alternative Chastity Key Ring An alternative to the above plan would be that each guy returns the key he's given to the Controller, who sends all the keys out again - no need to distribute addresses (except to the Controller) but more work for the Controller.
Security tags
If a guy wants to be kept secured but doesn't want to send keys through the post, they can use a serial numbered plastic security tag to secure their device (many devices are supplied with 5 tags). Then it's much easier to find someone on the internet who will check the tag through a webcam on a reguarl basis to ensure the secured guy hasn't cheated.
For some guys, knowing they will be found out if they break the security tag is enough to keep them secured. For others, a plastic tag is not enough and they need to be locked with a metal lock without access to the keys. It just depends what they are into.

Emergency key boxes
Another option for keeping a key (particularly for an emergency key) is to use a box which, when sealed, can't be opened without breaking the box. This means that if someone signs the outside of the box, it's evidence that the key has been accessed.
One source for such a box is keysure.net. I'm surprised the boxes don't have serial numbers on the outside, but I guess you could use a signature or make an unreproducable squiggle and have someone take a picture of it to confirm the box is the same one.
Alternatively, you could use a 'normal' box which can be secured with a security tag. One idea would be to buy a cheap cash box, which usually has a handle on the top. If you secure the box's key to the handle with a security tag, then you can put whatever keys inside the box that you need, and it can't be opened without breaking the security tag.
Another option would be to use a clear plastic wallet with a serial numbered Envelope Seals which is neat as it's designed for the purpose, however you can only buy the tags in units of 1000 so expensive to start.

Clock box
Had a neat idea suggested to me... quite simply, a stopwatch or other type of timer which shows days as well as hours/minutes/seconds inside a clear box, wired so that the act of opening the box resets the clock, and it ticks while the box is shut.
This would be useful if you're in a situation where you would like to prove to someone that you've been locked for some duration. You would use it like this: put keys in box and send them a pic of it, then if you later send them another pic, the fact that the timer has advanced is proof that the box hasn't been opened - if you open it it will immediately reset the timer.
Additionally, get the person to whom you're going to send the pic to send you a word or number that you then write on paper and include in picture - that way the receiver knows its an up to date pic and not an old one.
The 'charm' of this is that you don't even need a serial numbered tag. If after 24hrs you sneak the key out of the box, you'll have to wait another 24hrs before the clock would get to the same state.
To make such a box, you'd need to find a timer unit with exposed wires for reset etc (perhaps take one apart) and mount a microswitch in the box held closed by the box. Find the contacts on the switch which are closed (shorted out) when the button is NOT pressed, and wire that to the timer reset button.
Multiple Securing Keys If a guy likes the idea of having multiple keyholders, there are ways in which he could be secured with multiple keys.
This would work as either:
1.Any one keyholder can allow the guy to be released 2.All keyholders have to agree to allow the guy to be released There are a number of ways to arrange either of these. For instance, take a steel pipe and drill holes at each end and along through the middle so that a padlock can be put through the pipe at any point to prevent something (in this case, a cb key) moving through the pipe.
1.If the cb key is in the middle and there's a padlock at each end, the cb key can be removed by unlocking either padlock. Obviously, this system only works with 2 padlocks since there's only 2 ends to the pipe 2.If one end of the pipe is sealed, and there's a number of padlocks along the length of the pipe, all of the padlocks need to be removed to retrieve the cb key In either case, each keyholder gets the key to one of the locks.
Alternatively, you can buy devices to allow something to be secured by multiple locks - seehere for an example. This would probably be better securing a box that contains the cb key, rather than securing the cb directly.
You could have an interesting time combining these ideas, for instance a pipe with 5 padlocks, so either 2 of them on one end, or 3 of them on the other end, need to be unlocked to get the cb key out from inside.
You could do this perhaps better by adding some lock hasps to a box, so that the box can only be opened if all locks are opened. There are probably a few variants on that.
I'd be interested in hearing other ideas. Would be interesting to come up with a system that would allow any 3 keyholders out of a total of 5 keyholders to authorise release - complicated...
Multiple Securing Keys - any 3 from 5
I came up with a way of allowing any 3 from 5 keys to release a cb key. It's rather complicated and make use of the fact that there's only 10 possible combinations - 5C3=10
1.Lock the cb key into a box which is somehow secured to one wall
2.You need 10 chains, each with a key to the box secured on the end, numbered 1 to 10
3.You need a chain secured to the opposite wall to the box
4.So, if one of the key chains is locked to the wall chain, the key can't be used to open the box
5.You need 5 padlocks, lettered A to E
6.Lock key chain 1 to the wall chain using locks A, B and C so that all locks need to be opened to remove the key chain - but don't close the locks yet
7.Lock key chain 2 to the wall chain using locks A, B and D (so now locks A and B are through the wall chain and chains 1 and 2)
8.Lock key chain 3 to the wall chain using locks A, B and E
9.Chain 4 - A, C, D
10.Chain 5 - A, C, E
11.Chain 6 - A, D, E
12.Chain 7 - B, C, D
13.Chain 8 - B, C, E
14.Chain 9 - B, D, E
15.Chain 10 - C, D, E
16.Now, each lock should go through 5 key chains and the wall chains - you need big locks!
17.Close all the locks
18.You should find that if any 3 locks are opened, you should be able to pull one of the keys out of the bunch and unlock the box containing the cb key
19.I did say it was complicated!
There must be an easier way than this...
One alternative would involve having lots of locks that all use the same key...
1.You need 30 locks in total, 6 locks that all open with key 1, another 6 that all open with key 2, etc
2.You need 11 boxes, A to J and X, each of which can be locked shut with multiple locks (for instance, having multiple lock hasps or a large hasp that can take multiple locks through the loop)
3.Lock the cb key into box X, for which you need 10 keys
4.Put the 1st key for box X into box A, which is locked with a lock that requires key 1 AND also a lock that requires key 2 AND also a lock that requires key 3, such that all 3 locks must be opened to open the lock
5.Put the 2nd key for box X into box B, which is locked with a lock that requires key 1 AND also a lock that requires key 2 AND also a lock that requires key 4
6.And so on for boxes C to J, each secured with 3 locks that require different keys
7.If you're given any 3 of the origina keys 1 to 5, you should be able to find a box that you can fully open and retrieve the key to box X that contains the cb key!
8.This system is also quite complicated!
As a side-note, you don't really need 6 locks that all open with the same key, you could use 6 locks that open with 6 keys and just keep them all on the same keyring - not quite as elegant but easier to achieve
UPDATE
Someone's sent me a great idea for a system to achieve the above requirement but much easier:
1.Secure a chain to one wall and a locked box on the other wall
2.Put a key onto the chain so that the chain is 2 feet longer than it needs to be to reach the lock (so it would only just reach
if the chain were 2 feet shorter)
1.Put a lock onto the chain through 2 links so that it makes the chain 1 foot shorter
2.Put another 4 locks on, so each makes the chain 1 foot shorter
3.Now the key can't reach the lock box, but each padlock that's removed makes the key 1 foot closer to the box, and any 3 padlocks removed will allow you to open the lock box!
Ever Increasing Lockups
If you're locking yourself up, or if you're a keyholder for someone else, one way to manage lockup periods is that each should be longer than the last.
One way is to keep doubling the period - lockup for 1 day, then 2 then 4 then 8 etc. That gets very difficult very quickly, the 10th lockup is for over a year!
So an easier way is to add one day every time, lockup for 1 day, then 2 then 3 then 4 etc.
An alternative somewhere between the severity of the two choices above is to make each release the sum of the two prior releases. This allows a couple of short ones up front to work out any problems. The sequence starts 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, ...
You should agree a maximum period between lockups - say, 24 hours if you want to allow for 'recovery' or an hour if you want to be restrictive.
This idea was partially based on an idea from a LiveJournal communityThe Chastity Game where a group of people were doing this (adding one day each time) together, and they would see who lasted the longest.
A randomised increasing time to consider is:
Each session has the minimum time to serve, with that amount going up each time by the roll of a die.
And each session has on top of that a time to serve, the amount determined by a second roll.
In other words the time served in a give session is the prior "permanent" amount + the sum of the two rolls, and the new permanent time is the old one plus the first roll.
Another possibility is to have an electronic timer safe that holds the key. Each time the electornic timer counts down, it allows one release. It then resets for the same time. Except the keyholder can increase the time as punishment for bad behavior. Thus any time-pemalty assessed is repeated at each lock-up thereafter. This allows even small time-penalties to accumulate over time.
Random Methods
If a guy needs input on how long to be locked up, that can be achieved with a random system such as rolling a die or drawing a card from a deck. This can be done either by the wearer or by a keyholder.
You can interpret the numbers in whatever way is convenient to you, such as the roll of a die indicating a number of days or weeks of lockup.
Of course, you have to agree what the numbers mean before rolling the die!
You can use an external random number generator such as using lottery balls. It's too easy if you don't like the roll of a die to just roll again, but lottery balls are published so you can't change your mind. This is particuarly important if you're telling friends what you're doing - they can check what orders you're supposed to be obeying even without asking you.

Self-Bondage Methods
There are various methods that guys who are into self-bondage use, which can be appropriate to chastity play too:
- Post the keys to yourself, or to a friend whom you trust will post them back to you
- Freeze the keys in a block of ice, and wait until the ice melts
- Hide the keys somewhere distant so you have to travel to get them back
- Leave keys somewhere like a safety deposit box or in work or at a friend's house, where you don't have access all the time
- Get a collection of keys that can be inserted into the lock, but aren't able to open it. Add the right key, and randomize the collection. Distribute the keys to a number of different places (work, home, etc.) so you don't know where the right one is. Lock CB and have fun (or not)
Several companies make small combination locks that can be reset to a new combination. Do the actual "set" step of that process in the dark. You will EVENTUALLY find the new combination.
If you can chain yourself somewhere (to a bed, for instance) where you're in the dark at night and can't get to a light, secured with a combination lock. Daylight will let you see to open the combination lock.
Several ancient Greek devices did a timer by having a heavy weight sitting on sand in a cylindar which had a small hole in the bottom. As the sand ran out the weight (slowly) dropped. (* Warning, you want DRY sand *). There is the obvious use to release a key, and the probably non-obvious use to use more than one weight so that you have the weight doing the release, and you have another weight attached uncomfortable to some handy piece of anatomy. By having the weight turn a rod with pegs they were able to do quite elaborate timings.
In conjunction with self bondage where you don't have the use of your hands... secure the key to a small chunk of styrafoam more than large enough to float a key in water. Put that a the bottom of a tall narrow container that is itself secured securely in your basement. You can get the key by filling the container with water, which would float the key to the top. But without your hands filling it may mean one mouthfull at a time... An appropriate container can be made from several feet of large diameter PVC pipe, a PVC endcap for it, and an appropriate glue. All of these are availiable at your local hardware store.
The usual warning applies just as much with this - always have a safety backup key in case the above plan fails for some unexpected reason. You could consider using two or more of the above systems to back up each other.
A backup person could be useful for a safety, and could be worked into a scene nicely. Just make an arrangement with someone into stuff that you are not into. Have them show up if you are more than (say) 2 hours overdue... with the agreement that if they have to show up, they may use you for their prefered scene before releasing you. You now have a backup that you have motivation not to use. (And they have motivation to be the standby person.)
Puzzle Boxes
Some novelty stores sell "puzzle boxes" that take some elaborate sequence of moves to open. Generally the clerks know how to open them. Tell the clerk you'll buy it if they clerk will show you that it can be opened (but tell the clerk that you don't actually want to see how... that would ruin the fun). After you've paid the clerk can easily be talked into closing it back up (again without showing exactly how it is done) after you've put a key in it.
Plastic 3d mazes (designed for a marble) are reasonably inexpensive. If you cut a very fine slot in the midde of a few faces, terminating in the middle, and drop a key in, then it can't come out the same way... Did I mention that some are opaque?
Poste Restante
You can send a letter to a post office, then go pick it up. If you address it to your name, 'Poste Restante' and the address of a post office, they'll keep it a while for you (need to show proof of ID to pick it up). I believe it's available as a free service around most of the world.
This can be useful for several reasons:
- As an alternative to mailing yourself a key, you could mail the key to your local or to a distant postoffice, then you'll only get it back when you have the opportunity to go there. I tried this, mailing on a Thursday and was able to pick up on the Saturday (in my case I can only get to the postoffice on Saturday so if I posted on Friday I'd be locked for a week).
- If you want to mail someone a key or let them mail to you, but don't want to give out your home address, this is an alternative.
- Put a return address on the letter and it will be eventually sent back to you. I tried this (mailed to a non-existent person in a remote town) and it took 2 months to come back to me. Great if you like extreme randomness!
The KeySafe Project
KeySafe is a combination of:
A home built key safe that has electronics in to control the lock of the safe and connects to your PC A website that allows chastity wearers and keyholder to register and swap details, and interfaces to your key safe so that a registered keyholder can authorise your keys to be released from your safe. The website can be used without a key safe (have to rely on trust) and there's an electronic 'keyholder' on site who can tell you when you're allowed to have your keys, if you want it to.
The creator describes it this way:
A KeySafe is a small electronic safe that has been modified so that it can be controlled from a web page. Since a web page is used for control, the safe can be located in one place and controlled from another. We call it a "KeySafe" because keys are one of the main things we think someone would lock inside the unit. The idea is to allow long distance control of access to the contents of the safe. Hardware for time control
There are a few ways in which you can secure keys for a set time, including:
- Take a look at http://captureddiscipline.com although I've not heard of anyone who's ordered one of these. It looks very cheap, and I know the price hasn't changed in several years. Not sure it really exists
- There's people who attach time controllers (mostly from central heating systems I think) to digital safes and sell them on ebay. Used to be a frequent poster from Germany, although not listing anything at the moment. Try a search for "time lock safe"
- Several MortiSafe projects, but none particularly 'ongong'
Software for time control
TimeLock is a piece of software that will encrypt a picture for a given length of time. The idea is you open a combination lock, shuffle the dials without looking and take a picture before locking your cb with it, and the software makes sure you can't see the picture until you're allowed.

Sub control levels
If you have a sub whom you control (eg telling them when they may or may not cum) then the following is a shortcut for how liberated/restricted they can be (if they're not secured in a chastity device):
- Code Red - no touching genitals (even through clothing) at all (except for cleaning etc)
- Code Orange - touching genitals allowed but not when aroused (even through clothing)
- Code Yellow - touching genitals allowed and any stimulation you choose but no orgasm allowed
- Code Green - anything including orgasm allowed
So for instance you could send your sub a text message with "code orange" on it and they'll know what it means without explaining the detail.
The colour order happens to be the first 4 colours of the rainbow, as well as being not far off the traffic light colours.
Of course, this is a basis for your own system which you could vary for your needs. For instance:
- You might argue that there's a state between orange and yellow as defined above
- You could also define yellow as being an obligaion (say, once a day) to get aroused up to but not including orgasm
- You could define yellow as being only through clothing
Other types of orders
If you're using Sub control levels you could assign your own colour codes to whatever requirements you have, which could include:
- Cum exactly once every 24 hours
- Cum only when buttplugged
- Cum only when wearing some rubber/lycra/kinky gear
- Cum every 30 hours (this means the cum time will move around, being 6 hours later than the time of day of the last cum) or some other period which isn't an exact multiple of 24 hours
- If you cum in a room, you're not allowed to cum in that room again. This means once you've cum in each room in your house, you'll have to start cumming at work, public toilets, hidden in public places, etc
- Never allowed to cum in the house
Multi-Lock box
This is a suggestion for one (of many) ways of securing keys - not high security, just keeping out of the way of temptation.
Get a small plastic box with a lid, these are quite common for general storage these days (such as Really Useful Boxes) and you can get one for a few �/$. Make sure it's one which has a lid with a reasonable lip.
Some have small holes that you can put a padlock through to secure the box, if not then you'd need to drill two small holes, one at each end of the box, through the lid and the box, so something like padlocks could stop the box being opened (one each end).

The 'multi-lock' name comes from the idea that one side is a numbered security tag, and the other side (not shown in this pic) is a combination lock.
If you have a friend who can set a combination and lock the box for you, then it gives them the ability to send you the combination to open the box any time, but also gives you an emergency way out, by breaking the security tag (which of course should be checked regularly).
It just removes the possible need for an emergency call to the combination holder - you know you can always get at the key in emergency by breaking the tag, so the only reason to ask the combination-holder for the combination is if you think you've earned release or your agreed time is up or whatever.
You could of course use another process for keeping the combination, such as using a webcam to let a friend see the combo, or using a camera to take a picture of the combo then encrypting it using the TimeLock software.
Lock ups with 'extra time'
This is an idea probably more appropriate to using a friend to help you out with keeping someone locked, rather than a Master. I'll use the terms 'sub' and 'keyholder' for reference to them.
The sub and keyholder agree on a minimum time. Then they use something like Multi-Lock box to secure the keys with a combination lock but allowing an emergency release if needed.
Any time after the minimum, the sub can request release from the device. However, the keyholder can send them the combination during 'extra time', any time between then and the lockup time plus 25%. So if the agreed minimum was 5 days and the sub requests to be let out after 8 days, the keyholder could let him out any time betwee 8 and 10 days.
This means the sub knows on requesting unlocking, he's probably not going to be let out straight away, so if he's having a horny phase, asking to be let out isn't going to immediately help - very different from if he has key himself and can unlock as soon as he decides to
This gives a degree of flexibility on the sub not knowing when he's coming out, while at the same time setting an absolute 'worst case' end time, so it's not open ended.
Alternatives include:
If the keyholder doesn't want to make decisions, they want to be a passive facilitator, the 'extra time' could be always 25% of lockup time They could arrange that the sub has to request to be unlocked, and then request again about 12 hours later (or whatever agreed time) or it doesn't count. This means if the sub is enjoying being locked but had a 'weak moment' and requested unlocking, unless they feel the same way 12 hours later and re-request, they will remain locked. 12 hours is a good time because the requested unlock times are likely to be morning and evening, and if you're horny in the evening just for an hour or so, you're not likely to be in the same state the next morning If they are using a multi-lock box with combination and serial numbered tag, then there's never any excuse for the sub to call the keyholder with "I need to get out now" as there's always the emergency option of breaking the tag. Then of course there's no way to hide that.
Reverse GeoCache puzzle

Alternatively, you could easily come up with a device which would encrypt the current GPS signal and display a code. If you use the code as an encryption key to a combination, then give the device to someone, they could only decrypt the combination by going to the location.
